5 Post-Workout Mistakes You Probably Do

More and more people are now resorting to working out due to a number of reasons. Be it you want to build up your desired body or maybe because of health reasons. And that is great. Working out not only transforms you physically, but it also, keeps you mentally alert and focused.

However, for working out to be more effective, and for the muscles to get stronger, certain things must be done after the workout to keep the body functioning as it should, because post workout routines are as important as the workout itself.
Here are some of the mistakes or omissions you probably do after a workout that you have to stop right now!

Bathing right after a Workout

No matter what form of workout you are into, you probably have the urge to jump in the shower right after. When you’re working out, your heart increases how much oxygen-rich blood it pumps to your muscles. Similar to how you eased your body into exercise with a warm-up, just five to 10 minutes of low-intensity exercise can help reduce that light-headed feeling and help your muscles recover more rapidly. When you suddenly stop your activity, blood pools in your muscles instead of flowing back to your heart. That’s the point of cooling down.

No Protein in-take to Mend Your Muscles

eating protein foods

When you workout, your muscles tear apart to accommodate the pressure that’s being put on it, consuming protein post workout, effectively stimulates muscle protein synthesis and improves whole-body protein balance during overnight recovery. Plus it repairs the torn muscles. Amino acids from high-quality animal proteins, along with carbohydrates from vegetables are essential for this process.

Dehydration

Dehydration can contribute to post-workout fatigue, so it’s important to drink plenty of water when you’re exercising. Experts recommend drinking about 20 ounces of water four hours before exercise and another eight to 12 ounces 10 minutes before.
While you will need water post-workout, your body will tell you when it’s time to replenish your water supply, because once your body has lost between one to two percent of its total water, your thirst mechanism lets you know that it’s time to drink some water! The color of your urine is a great indication; the color should be light yellow.
Staying In Sweaty Clothes After A Workout: Aside from feeling dirty, staying in sweaty clothes can lead to a yeast infection or body acne. Staying in them for too long can also give you a cold if your immune system cannot handle the wetness of the clothes against your skin for too long, especially when it’s during the cold season. Additionally, no one is going to want to be around you in sweat-drenched clothes. What you need to do is get them off and wear something cleaner as soon as possible.

Missing Meals

It is a myth that if you don’t eat after a workout it will help you lose weight. While exercise is amazing for your health in the long term, it actually puts a lot of stress on the body. If you don’t properly refuel after you workout it weakens your body making it hard to perform to its full potential during a workout as the body does not have the required amount of food to keep it going.

Conclusion

Post workout rituals are as important to the body as much as the workout itself. The body is basically a machine that should be under control at all times if it is to work as it should (post workout treatments of the body being no exceptions). Better results and a stronger body will surface out of the workout if you follow the instructions which, to be honest, we can all do.
