Beans –
people often relate beans to magic foods, but they are also fertility boosting foods. A research showed proved that women who are trying to get pregnant and took plant protein, had a higher percentage compared to those who took animal protein, they had a 39% infertility rate.
Ice – cream –
not the low fat or the fro-yo varieties. A study showed that one or two daily servings of whole milk or its products ( like ice cream) can protect against ovulatory infertility.
Leafy greens –
greens such as spinach, romaine, broccoli and other dark leafy greens are high in folate, a B vitamin that a few studies have shown that may improve ovulation. Men who get high doses of folate, tend to have healthier sperms, reducing the risk of miscarriage and genetic problems.
Pumpkin seeds –
these are high in non-heme iron, this is the type of iron that is found in certain plant food and iron- fortified foods. A study showed t,hat women who regularly take iron supplement were 40% less likely to have trouble getting pregnant.
Whole wheat bread –
complex carbs usually take longer than refined ones to get digested, which helps keeps the blood sugar and insulin levels in check. The mechanism behind this is that increased insulin levels can disrupt reproductive hormones. A dutch study found out that when women had high levels of blood sugar, they were only half likely to get pregnant during the study period.
Olive oil –
this is a mono-saturated fat, that helps to increase insulin sensitivity and also helps to decrease inflammation throughout the body. Inflammation usually interferes with ovulation, conception and early development of the embryo.
Wild salmon –
this is a cold water fish that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which may regulate reproductive hormones and increase blood flow to the reproductive organs. Salmon also contains low levels of mercury compared to other fatty fishes.
